Home fragrance oil warmers provide a quick and easy way to scent your home. They often make an attractive decoration as well. There are many types of oil warmers, but all should be used with safety to avoid fire or injury. In this particular article, oil warmers that make use of candles as their source of their heat will be addressed.

  • Things You’ll Need:
    Oil warmer
    Home fragrance oil
    Unscented tea light candle
Matches or an automatic candle lighter

Step1- Decide where you will place your oil warmer. Make sure it is a spot that is clutter free to minimize risk of fire. Ensure that the area is open and has good air flow. Oil warmers work best in larger rooms.

Step2 - Consult the bottle your home fragrance oil is in to determine how much oil to use. Place the appropriate amount in the dish or reservoir of your oil warmer. If the dish is removable, set it aside to ensure more safety when you light the candle.

Step3 - Prepare your tea light. It is best to use an unscented tea light candle to avoid scent mixing with your fragrance oil. Place the tea light in the bottom of your oil warmer or into the candle holder part of your oil warmer if it has one. Find the wick of the candle and make it stand up straight.

Step - 4 Light your candle. Keep the flame away from your fragrance oil so that it will not catch on fire.

Step 5 - Place the oil dish back on the top of the oil warmer if you have removed it. The oil warmer should immediately begin to scent your room.

Step 6 - Check your oil warmer periodically. Maintain an appropriate level of oil in the oil dish, and watch the oil burner for smoke. If your oil warmer begins to smoke, extinguish the candle, clean your oil warmer and start over with a new tea light.

Design of Oil Lamps

Author: caroliney

An oil lamp is a simple vessel used to produce light continuously for a period of time from a fuel source. The use of oil lamps extends from prehistory to the present day. They are one of the most ancient forms of lighting. The reservoir holds the fuel supply and the wick is dipped into that fuel. Simply stated, an oil lamp is a lamp that burns oil as a fuel source to keep a source of light continuing. This source of light is in the form of a flame.

A wick is placed over the nozzle and extends into the fuel chamber. Most lamps come with one nozzle. The wick is made of different materials like linen or flax, The thickness of the wick is an important factor too; thin wicks burn fuel more slowly than thick ones. However, the thickness of the wick does not have much affect on the size of the flame.

The design of the oil lamps has changed over the centuries, and their functionality was diminished when electrical lighting came into widespread use. Today, the most common types of oil lamps are those made from metal, glass or a combination of materials that may also include plastic. These materials are durable and heat resistant, and therefore help make the best lamps. The first oil lamps were made from stone. Others say they were likely made from sea shells. Both materials have been known to be formed into oil lamps in ancient times.

Oil lamps today are a unique décor and popular for mood lighting, as an alternative to candles, or as an alternate source of emergency lighting when electricity is not available. Many oil lamps provide a small wheel that when turned, moves the wick up and down so that the user can adjust the light produced. Other lamps sold now are both the traditional farmer’s lantern, made mostly of metal and the old-fashioned hurricane lamps, made mostly of glass, with only the wick holder assembly made of metal.

Prior to the invention of electricity, the only lighting available was from an oil lamp or lantern. Today the emphasis is on beauty, not performance. There are delicate and bold designs. These are growing in popularity. The oil comes in a variety of colors to accentuate the style of the room.

More oil lamps are a very modern trend in lighting décor. And tends to be toward the artistic design.. They are not only a unique décor but are a stylish way to provide your home with everything from a reliable emergency lighting source, to an elegant dining atmosphere!. The subtle glow that is emitted from the lamps gives an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming to your guests.

Today, the oil lamp is used mainly to create a specific lighting atmosphere or perhaps to give off an aroma. Scented oil lamps can fill a room with a fragrance of choice and there are dozens of scents to choose from.

The Internet is a great place to explore all the styles and designs that are available. You can do a search and find the best buys for lamps that will add an element of interest to your home environment. Online shopping is much more convenient than going from store to store looking for just the right one for you.

Different Ways To Use Vases

Author: caroliney

Vases are one of the most beautiful and can be a very expensive object. They come in many different material, shapes, sizes and colors. This will allow you to choose the right vase for the desired ideas that you have for your home or special occasion. Using these vases will bring style and elegance to any room of your home, whether it is in the bathroom, living room or kitchen. Over the years they have become both practical as well as decorative objects. As a result, vases have many different attributes and therefore many different ways to use one.

Vases were used only with flowers but now there are many different ways to use them that are making it stake its claim in the homes. The flowers, as well as the holder, can change the atmosphere of the house and will they bring color and warmth to any home décor.

If one is looking for elegance in their library or office, I found out that one can use vases as a sculptural bookend. Fill the vase with many beautiful objects to bring out the beauty and which are in them selves heavy, in order to hold the books in place. Make sure that you use the same colors. The vase will serve the purpose of holding the books in place as well as a decorative feature.

Surprisingly, vases can also be used as cake stands. People use them as cake bases when hosting parties and weddings. They should preferably have a wide base in order to support the weight of the cake. They should be turned upside down then have a plate placed securely on top of the base. This plate will subsequently serve as a base for the cake. This will make the serving look classy. Vases can be good art display cases. A person can put the item to be displayed on a plate or tray, and then cover it with a glass vase.

One can use vases in a row instead of a single layer. They can also be used in the kitchen. Since the kitchen is a busy room, it should not necessarily have an expensive vase. This is because there are higher chances of accidents in the kitchen than there are in other rooms. They can be used to store various kitchen tools as well. So not only does it serve that purpose, but they will also accentuate the beauty of the kitchen or counter they are placed on.

Transparent vases are a stylish and beautiful way to enhance and display your flower arrangements. They can also be used in many other ways, or alone with nothing in them. There by showing additional beauty to your home décor. It does not need to just hold flowers, but with some imagination it can be the one thing to set off a room.
Many of these vases are created with such beauty and stylish designs that it is only natural to want to display this beauty alone. Vases are not just used to décor you home, but are also used for the décor in special occasions. So give your home décor that finally finishing touch.

Wooden candleholders

Author: MyHomeDecor

Wood is a classic staple in every home. The use of wood for home decor will never go out of style. In fact, there is greater demand for wood furniture and home decor.

This must be because of the popularity of Zen-inspired homes. Creating a Zen interior means keeping decorations to a minimum. There is less clutter and the style is sleek and straight. Unlike contemporary minimalism designs that make use of plastic accents, Zen relies mostly on wood. Accents are also kept to a minimum. They can be as simple as wooden candleholders or a mirror without intricate carvings and designs.

Candles are wonderful decors to a home. This is especially true when entertaining guests. Candles can make great accents in the living room. They can also be a beautiful dinner table centerpiece. Aside from providing dramatic lighting, they also add warmth to any occasion.

There are different candles to choose from. Some are intricately designed, others are scented, and others come in plain colors. When decorating with candles, even plain candles can look stylish and elegant with the right touches. This could be done by placing them in metal candle holders or by decorating them with ribbons.

The appearance of the vase

Author: caroliney

The appearance and the size of your vase really matters a lot. Plan your vase according to the flowers. You need to have a tall vase for long stemmed flowers like Daffodils, Roses, Gladiolas, Iris and freesias.

Slim vases and wall mounted vases helps to give a beautiful appearance of your bouquet. Also to add a special touch do an arrangement of several vases. They give an extremely different appearance when they are arranged and grouped.

The neutral colour, like crystal vases are designed specifically to give more importance to the flowers.  On the other hand, vibrantly bold coloured vases will spoil the appearance of the flowers. So, use a vase that looks plain.

Letting your flowers last longer:

  1. The vase should be kept clean and filled with lukewarm water about half the brim
  2. In this water you can mix the contents in the nutrient sachet. Avoid adding sugar, bleach, aspirin, etc.
  3. Unpack the flower bouquet and remove the thorns and stem leaves
  4. Cut the stems diagonally without crushing or splitting them
  5. Remove any dead petal leaves from the water
  6. Quickly submerge the flowers into the vase
  7. Top up the water level
  8. Periodically sprinkle flower foods which will make your bouquet last longer

Candle Safety Tips

Author: caroliney

  • Always use a candle holder specifically designed for candle use. Be sure the candleholder is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface. The candleholder should be heat resistant, sturdy and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax.

Always keep a burning candle within sight. Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep.

  • Never move a lighted candle especially a votive or container candle when the wax is liquid. Also, extinguish a pillar candle if the wax pool approached the outer edge.
  • If too much (or too little) air reaches the candle flame, it will disturb the flame, causing it to soot. To avoid this, always burn your candles in a well ventilated room and keep the burning candles away from drafts, vents and air currents. This will help prevent rapid, uneven burning, smoking and excessive dripping. Drafts can also blow lightweight curtains or papers into the flame where they could catch fire. Ceiling fans can also cause drafts.
  • If you like to group your candles together, make sure they are at least 2 to 3 inches apart when burning. Candles placed too closely together can create their own draft and cause the candles to flare.
  • Long or crooked wicks cause a candle flame to grow too long and flare,  thereby causing uneven burning and dripping. So that is why it is important to trim candlewicks to 1/4 inch each time before burning.
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Keep burning candles away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc.
  • Extinguish any candle if it smokes, flickers repeatedly or the flame becomes too high. Cool, trim the wick, check for drafts and re-light.
  • Don’t allow the flame to come too close to the holder or container.
  • Discontinue using a candle when it is within 2 inches of the holder or ½ inch of the container bottom.
  • One of the safest ways to extinguish a candle is to use a candle snuffer, which helps prevent hot wax from spattering.
  • When blowing out a candle, hold your index finger in front of the flame and blow at it. Air will flow around your finger, extinguish the candle from both sides, and prevent hot wax from splattering.
  • Do not extinguish candles with water. The water can cause the hot wax to spatter and can cause glass containers to break.

Candle Holders

Author: caroliney

Originally, candles were made from tallow, which was extracted from cattle & sheep, in the early Egyptian times. These early candles burned poorly & probably smelled even worst.

The first evident of a clay candle holder is found in Egypt around 400 b.c. Earthenware bowls from the 4th century AD in China had hollowed sockets with traces of partially burnt candles in them.
